‘The Potential of ICTs for Cambodia’s Development: An Opportunity to Invest & Make a Difference’ The 15th World Congress on IT was held in Texas May 1-5 exploring issues of Global Impact: privacy and security, healthcare, and global digital access. Kelly Hutchinson invited to speak as a representative of the Cambodian ICT industry and the GTZ-PSP program for whom she is a Consultant. As part of the Innovation Exchange Kelly’s presentation on ‘The Potential of ICTs for Cambodia’s Development: An Opportunity to Invest & Make a Difference’ was alongside other countries and ICT companies looking for international partnerships and investment. It was a great opportunity to raise the profile of the Cambodian ICT sector to the leaders in the IT field and hopefully generate investment into this emerging market. Kelly was also a panelist with representatives from Dell and EDS on the issue of Global Outsourcing providing an alternate perspective from the emerging markets. Her key messages were that support for innovation for local ICT solutions such as incubators for entrepreneurs to develop new ICT services is rewarding on all levels: social, financial and professional. Getting in on the ground floor of an emerging market is becoming a priority of many in the IT sector such as Intel, HP and Microsoft as well as other who represent Sillicon Valley companies all who expressed interest at the latest developments in Cambodia.
